LONDON - ALBION RIVERSIDE - DEVELOPMENT OF ALBION WARF

Three buildings linked together by the public squares, designed by famous architectural office - Foster and Partners, located on the south bank of the Thames in close proximity to Battersea Park.

The most characteristic of them is eleven storey, mixed use development
which since its completion in 2003 has become another beautiful landmark of London.

It is very asymmetrical in a shape of a huge pretzel( at least from a distance) and with its wings opened to the river creating the open public space.

The architectural elements that were created of curved lines were a light motive in this unusual design.

Typical floor layout contains twenty eight apartaments arranged around four common areas - staircases. There are 183 apartments proposed in total in range of two to four bedroom flats.

Horizontal curves of the elevation, fully glazed balconies, use of glass, aluminium and concrete also design of the landscape architecture ( bu Speirs & Major ) make the edifice complete and as contemporary as it gets.

LONDON - CANARY WHARF UNDERGROUND STATION

The station is a part of a modern extention of London's tube, with the underground line called Jubilee constructed between 1991 - 1999.

This very attractive design , a sweling glazed canopy covering the three exits of the tube station was designed by Sir Norman Foster and partners, one of the best known architects of the world (some peaople say they are only the best paid architects of the globe.)

It provides the unusual amount of a daylight as for the typical london tube station, and became a very well known landmark of the area. The station has that comtemporary factor and a robust aesthetica similar to the neighbouring architecture and thanks to that it is fitting in the context perfectly.

The main idea of the design was to make the canopy as long as the Canary Wharf Tower is tall and of course make the entire complex sufficiently effective due to increasing amount of travellers in the area.

The station comprises twenty banks of escalators, offices of administration, main ticket hall, kiosks, all alocated along the principal concourse leading to the main three exits/entrances coverred with the canopy.

All finished with very good quality materials and the workmanship is guaranteed by Foster and Partners trademark ;-)
